Product Information

Though singer-songwriter-guitarist Roy Schneider is probably classed as a blues musician, he fits in the same bag as such classic 'country' singer-songwriters as Guy Clark, John Prine, Steve Goodman and Townes Van Zandt. The label that most would use is probably 'Americana' and I can live with that as this album takes us on a picturesque tour through America's southeastern region in such songs as "Cedar Ridge" that takes the listener into the wild and rugged Kentucky's moonshine hollers or the rhythmic joy of "Dancin' On the Mountain." Even a pair of outside songs fit into the album seamlessly, especially Guy Clark's infectious "Soldier's Joy 1984" and David Crosby's "Long Time Gone." The musical arrangements are simple but highly effective. Old-timey music is perhaps an apt description with Schneider on acoustic guitars, mandolin, banjo, harmonica, whistles and drums and joined by Charlie McCoy (harmonica), Erik Alvar (upright bass), Kevin Aland (fiddle, violin), Dan Fidanza (piano), Linda Kallinger (fiddle, background vocals), Kim Mayfield (piano, vocals) and Hans York (supporting and lead guitar). Well worth seeking out.
